The INCLUD-ED project has made an impact once again, this time at the European Conference entitled: Educating Europe – Educational Sciences go FP7 and beyond. Funding opportunities, matchmaking, networking.

Ramon Flecha, the main researcher and coordinator of the European INCLUD-ED.Strategies for inclusion and social cohesion from education in Europe project, and a Full Professor in Sociology in the University of Barcelona, was invited to participate in a European Conference entitled: Educating Europe – Educational Sciences go FP7 and beyond. Funding opportunities, matchmaking, networking (30th June – 1st July 2010, Brussels, University Foundation Club). This Conference was organised by the European Commission, along with the German National Contact Point for Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities, the PT-DLR (SSH NCP), the International Cooperation in Education of the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF) and NET4SOCIETY.

The objective of this Conference was to promote educational research within the “Socio-economic sciences and humanities” priority area as part of the specific “Cooperation” programme, within the VII European Union Framework Programme (7PM). The priority was to go more in-depth into the “Indicative Research Roadmap” set out by the European Commission, and to gather the international scientific community together in order to promote cooperative research in the field of educational science.  Ramon Flecha was invited within this context, and participated as one of the main speakers in the session entitled “EU funded educational projects”. Ramon presented the results of the project, and the impact it is having at a political level, as well as its impact on the media internationally.

MEPs, representatives from the European Commission – Directorate General for Research, representatives of Member State governments, social actors, researchers and scholars participated, on the 18th of November 2009, in a Conference at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels.

First Panel of Expert meeting (29th of September)

The 1st Panel of Experts Meeting took place on September 29th 2007 in Barcelona (Spain) to work as a consultancy body for the first year of the project. The meeting consisted on a presentation of the results of the project and a fruitful discussion and reflection by the experts who provided policy recommendations contributing to the public consultation on schools for the 21st century by the European Commission. The members of the Panel of Experts contributed with their expertise to the findings of the first year results and proposed contributions in response to the public consultation.

The INCLUD-ED project is standing out once again, this time at the ECER Conference

The members of the European Educational Research Association (EERA) are national and regional Educational Research Associations from all over Europe.  The objective of the EERA is to encourage the connection between educational researchers and educational research associations and institutes within Europe, thus increasing research.

This year, “The European Conference on Educational Research”-ECER- (Annual Conference) will take place in Vienna, Austria. The title of the conference will be “Theory and Evidence in European Educational Research.

The INCLUD-ED project presented at the 9th European Sociological Association Conference

The European Sociological Association (ESA) aims to facilitate sociological research, teaching and communication on European issues, and to give sociology a voice in European affairs. This year the 9th European Sociological Association Conference was held between the 2nd and the 5th of September 2009, in Lisbon, Portugal, under the general title of “European Society or European Societies”?

Parts of the INCLUD-ED Integrated Project (FP6, 2006-2011) results were presented at this conference in the Research Network Sociology of Education. Members of the Include-Ed Project presented two papers about the findings obtained during the first year in relation to European Educational Systems and successful practices which increase equity and efficiency in education. Lídia Puigvert (member of the General Coordination team) and Adriana Aubert from the University of Barcelona presented a paper written in collaboration with partners Laura Engels (University of Nottingham, United Kingdom) and Teodor Alexiu Mircea (Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara, Romania) entitled “Overcoming educational inequalities: Differences between mixture, streaming and inclusion” on September the 4th, 2009.
