Partner  DCU  organised a training seminar on Project 1 of the INCLUD-ED project. More than 70 people attended the training seminar (policy makers, member of the research community, government representatives and NGO’s).

DCU had the opportunity to link up with the United States Embassy in order to host a joint training session on the INCLUD-ED project and also to discuss best practice in relation to what is happening in the US.

Some of the speakers present were Prof. James A. Banks, a leading expert on multiculturalism, and Vikki Baldwin, a member of the formerClintonadministration and a school principal from a multicultural setting. The Irish Minister for Education, the Irish Minister for Integration, Baroness May Blood (an MP forNorthern Ireland) and the American Ambassador for Ireland, also participated in this seminar. The conference generated huge publicity for the INCLUD-ED project, was featured in the 2 major national newspapers and the leader of the Irish research team for this project,Carmel Mulcahy, was interviewed by the Irish National Broadcasting Company. The seminar generated contacts with the CEO of the National Consultative Commission on Racism in order to help in the planning for the European Year of Interculturalism Conference to be held in early 2008.
