Our schools show a growing diversity (of cultures, languages, life choices, educational needs, etc.) that requires a more efficient and equitable management of existent resources that meets the actual demands of the society. The role of families and communities to achieve educational success for all is more important than ever to overcome educational and social exclusion. But what kind of participation of families and the community lead to more educational success? INCLUD-ED. Strategies for inclusion and social cohesion in Europe from education (6th Framework Programme, European Commission, 2006-2011), the research about strategies that promote social cohesion with most resources and highest scientific status of the Research Framework Programmes of the European Commission. Universities and research centres in 14 countries participate in this project coordinated by the centre of research CREA at the University of Barcelona.

In the seminar it will be presented evidences of those successful educational actions that are demonstrating improvement in academic outcomes and coexistence in different schools of Europe. We will discuss with researchers who have analyzed these actions, members of educational administration and people from the community who are experiencing the improvements generated by these actions in their school and their lives.
